Description

It was most probably built when Pianezza became the feud of Provana in the middle of 1300. The tower was originally embossed with guelf bites without the roof covering, completely open on the side to the village to facilitate, by pulleys, the accumulation of bullets at the top , the protruding polygon with short sides outward clearly denounces the defensive function needed for the country's security at that time threatened by multiple fronts.
In 1844 the tower denounced the surrendering, which required urgent restoration, but after Gallinati's expertise, the conclusion was that it was a good idea to break it down and build a new bell tower. The decision of the Commune was instead to close the tower on the open side, which took place in 1878. Other restorations took place in 1979 when it was encircled by robust iron belts and the last intervention was between 1999 and 2000 .
The Civic Clock was built by the Gramaglia of Turin in 1870: it is an escaping model, its charge lasted for a week and the weights that operated it fell for 20/25 m and entered a deep shaft of 10/12 m . It was replaced by an electronic watch from the company Sabbatini in Bergamo in November 2004, the new technology has produced small changes in the sound of the hours.
The largest bell, cast by Antonio Bianco in 1787 in Fa shade, is the civic bell. It is the first coat of arms of the planetary community, a pine tree with berries. Played in different ways, he called the planets to collect: "a quick hammer" for fires, "expanse" for community council meeting, "high expanse" for storms and hailstorms as sound waves soften the formation of the storm even if the result is not always satisfactory, "the pass" for the burials.
The mezzanine bell, mated in 1858 by Antonio Bianco in "La", is the bell playing for parish catechism, evening benediction, and other religious functions.
The small bell, melted in 1775 in Do's tones, is the oldest of the three bells. Made up of the Society of the Rosary, it served for the functions of the Company itself and in more recent times for the processions, the burials and, when it was required, the participation of the Daughters of Mary.
The bells, in the end, all three together play in these modes: at party, as "baudëtta", during the most important festivals; as "tic-tuc", for various functions and for burials.
The last reliefs on the tower found that the side to Pellegrino has a slope of 30 cm, therefore, after the "Church Walking", Pianezza can boast its "Leaning Tower".
